Diyas of Happiness

Women learn the craft of candle-making and earn from every terracotta candle sold this Diwali.

For every candle you buy, one more diya is lit in an artisan’s home.

Diyas of Happiness is a vocational-training programme for women. Trainees master the craft of candle-making as a first step toward self-reliance, and every candle they make is sold so that the earnings go back to them.

How it works

  • Training first. Women learn pouring, scenting, colouring and finishing, along with quality control and packing.
  • Local terracotta. We buy our clay diyas, bowls and urlis from local potters first, never from factories, so one purchase supports two livelihoods.
  • Made in India, end to end. Every candle is sourced, poured and packed on Indian soil.

Part of India’s movement

The programme contributes to Make in India, Vocal for Local, Atmanirbhar Bharat and Skill India: building self-reliant, dignified livelihoods for women and turning a traditional craft into a lasting career.
